What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precertification Specialist position at Rome GI and Rome Endoscopy Center?
Our office is looking for an experienced Precertification Specialist to support a very active specialty office and ambulatory surgery center.
Candidate must have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills and customer service is a must. The individual will work directly with the staff members and the insurance companies to properly obtain authorizations and verify benefits. The Precertification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient information, insurance coverage, and financial responsibility prior to procedures. Duties will require that you notify patient of copay responsibility, coinsurances, deductible amounts due from the patient for procedures. Duties also include communicating with patients, schedulers, and insurance carriers. Properly document benefits in the patient charts. This is a customer service position, therefore strong communication and people skills are essential.
Skill Requirements: Medical Office: 3 years experience in healthcare insurance billing, verification, collections and/or authorizations. Knowledge of computers, programs and spreadsheet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Knowledge of insurance plans, EMR systems, and front office functions preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Skill in operating a computer and scanner, as well as software programs. Telephone etiquette and professional communication skills are required. Perform other responsibilities as may be called on by the Billing Manager.
