Location: Los Alamos, NM – hybrid schedule 1-2 days a week in office
Hours: day shift 8am-5pm Monday through Friday
Length: 6 month temp covering someone on a leave of absence with possibility of extension
Must Haves:
- HS diploma or degree in Finance, Business or Accounting or any other related field is highly desired and excellent Microsoft Excel experience and Oracle is a plus
- Must have 3 years’ experience in accounting, timekeeping or reviewing timecards and data entry and customer service experience
- Must be able to complete client’s onboarding requirements
Job Description:
- The Controller Division is seeking to hire highly motivated, energetic, and customer-focused Accounting Assistant 4 to support the Controller Payroll Benefits and Accounting (CNTL-PBA) Group. Reporting to the CNTL-PBA Group Leader, the selected candidate will be responsible for union time and effort data entry, verification, customer service (emails & phone), and electronic filing. The role requires occasional work outside normal hours, accuracy, strong analytical and time management skills, independence, problem-solving ability, a strong work ethic, and a proven record of meeting deadlines and excellent attendance.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of electronic timekeeping systems, payroll processes, and financial concepts.
- Strong numerical accuracy and ability to perform arithmetic operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email) and familiarity with financial software or ERP systems.
Confidentiality & Communication:
- Understanding of confidentiality and handling of personal identifiable information (PII).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear information exchange.
Organizational & Teamwork Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills to manage priorities, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Effective team player with a willingness to support others and take on new tasks
Leadership & Direction:
- Ability to provide guidance, training, and mentorship to departmental staff when required.
- This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a minimum of 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, such as college level business courses.
