The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt is comprised of three Conservatories : Music, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Theatre. Our faculty and staff maintain successful professional careers in their chosen fields alongside their commitment to training and educating our students in preparation to enter performing arts industries.

This position entails the following category of instruction :

Weekly applied voice lessons taught onsite at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) Chicago campus, working with students enrolled in the following degree programs :

  • Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance;
  • Bachelor of Music Education;
  • Bachelor of Musical Arts;
  • Bachelor of Arts;
  • Master of Music in Voice Performance;
  • Professional Diploma in Opera.

This is a part-time position with a cap of 20 total teaching hours per week.

Job Duties :

  • Active engagement toward student recruitment.
  • Successful retention of students by means of effective and healthy pedagogy.
  • Participation in adjudication of recitals, juries, and auditions.
  • Clear and timely communications.
  • Timely submission of all grades.
  • Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding).
  • Submission of a studio syllabus each semester (university-mandated template will be provided) documenting all studio policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree; significant teaching and / or performing experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
  • Documented record of consistent professional experience and a high degree of visibility as a performer.
  • Years of Experience Required : 1-2 years teaching at the university level.

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • Specialization in light lyric repertoire across operatic, concert, and recital literature. Singers who focus on one genre or performance era and those who perform a range of material will be equally considered.
  • Master’s degree; significant teaching and / or performing experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
  • Experience in collegiate-level teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Equipment Operated : Studio sound system, basic office / classroom equipment, and Smart-classroom equipment (computer, monitor, projector, and audio equipment).

    Working Conditions : Standard climate-controlled office and classroom environment.
