Compensation Structure: $18-20/hr (DOE) plus tip pool (add'l $5-7/hr)

We are looking responsible and reliable team members who are passionate about plant-based food and view food as medicine. You possess attention to detail and quality, are organized, customer-oriented and truly find joy in nourishing others with clean, healthy, food made with love. This position would also require experience in preparing and plating entrees, preparing juices and smoothies, opening and closing the café, keeping the seating area sanitized and organized and positive interactions with customers.
Position Brief:
Blossoming Lotus Cafe & Juice Bar, a small and manageable 5-person operation in Root Whole Body in NW Portland, is looking for an organized, responsible and communicative Kitchen Manager who is passionate about healthy food and inspiring others to view food as medicine. The ideal candidate is experienced in all BOH operations, including ordering/planning, inventory, prep scheduling, menu prep, order assembly, quality and plating. They protect high quality standards, possess attention to detail, is organized, customer-oriented and truly find joy in nourishing others with clean, healthy, plant-based food made with love. This position requires light cooking and food ordering experience, managing food costs, resource/waste management, and menu management.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Quality Food & Beverage Preparation per Specifications
Prep cooking duties for: sauces, dressings and entrée elements
Prepping fruits and vegetables for various menu items including juices/smoothies
Made to order assembling of entree bowls, salads, juices/smoothies to order as well as grab ‘n go items
Consistency of plating, portion control and presentation
Complete Specifications for any new menu items and training of specifications to 3-4 cafe team members
Clean & Organized Kitchen Operations & Customer Experience
Highest level of cleanliness and organization at the front counter, back kitchen and customer seating area
Comply with sanitation guidelines
Maintain clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
Maintain clean and uncluttered customer bussing and dining area
Ensure all food, beverage and supplies are stored properly
Menu and ingredient knowledge; including complementary additions where appropriate
Accurate customer ordering and timely expo of order
Assuring customer satisfaction and quality control
Operational Efficiencies & Profitability
Managing food costs, minimizing waste and optimizing resources
Vendor ordering and receiving; inventory management, label and stock all ingredients in an organized and accessible manner
Set ordering schedule/amounts based on café sales
Protect food quality, presentation and costing control guidelines
Manage and train staff to achieve highest level of sanitization and compliance
Develop food programs, delivery or products that support ‘food as medicine’
Perform any and all administrative duties associated with the position
Qualifications:
3-5 years kitchen management or prep chef/supervisory experience
Ability to consistently deliver and train others to deliver quality in a timely manner
Computer savvy (Word, Excel, Office); working knowledge of POS programs
Highly organized and effective communicator, populating weekly ordering/inventory management systems.
Strong knowledge in kitchen safety regulations & compliance; ability to train others.
Problem solving capabilities and patient demeanor.
Ability to stand on your feet for several hours
Ability to lift at least 30 lbs
