Position Brief:
- Blossoming Lotus Cafe & Juice Bar, operating in Root Whole Body in NW Portland, is looking for an experienced and responsible team leader who is passionate about healthy food and inspiring others to view food as medicine. The ideal candidate is experienced in operations, created growth and can create the systems to open future locations. They protect high standards, possesses attention to detail and quality, is organized, customer-oriented and truly find joy in nourishing others with clean, healthy, plant-based food made with love. This person has Kitchen Manager experience, as the position would also require light cooking and food ordering experience, managing labor and food costs, schedules and budgets, resource/waste management, and menu management. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Quality Food & Beverage Preparation per Specifications
- Prep cooking duties for: sauces, dressings and entrée elements
- Prepping fruits and vegetables for various menu items including juices/smoothies
- Made to order assembling of entree bowls, salads, juices/smoothies to order as well as grab ‘n go items
- Consistency of plating, portion control and presentation
- Complete Specifications for any new menu items and training of specifications to 3-4 cafe team members
Safe & Welcoming Customer Experience
- Highest level of cleanliness and organization at the front counter, back kitchen and customer seating area
- Comply with sanitation guidelines
- Maintain clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
- Maintain clean and uncluttered customer bussing and dining area
- Ensure all food, beverage and supplies are stored properly
- Menu and ingredient knowledge; including complementary additions where appropriate
- Accurate customer ordering and timely expo of order
- Assuring customer satisfaction, relationship-building and retention
Profitability, Reputation and Growth:
- Managing labor and food costs and optimize resources
- Vendor ordering and receiving; inventory management, label and stock all ingredients in an organized and accessible manner
- Set labor schedule based on café traffic
- Protect food quality, presentation and costing control guidelines
- Hire, manage and train staff to achieve highest level of sanitization and compliance
- Develop food programs, delivery or products that support ‘food as medicine’
- Plan and coordinate logistics for grab ‘n go program
- Ensure quality control that build reputation and reviews
- Explore other channels of growing customer base
- Perform any and all administrative duties associated with the position
Requirements:
- 5 years kitchen line or management experience; previous supervision/management preferred
- 3-5 years prep chef or kitchen line experience
- Great training ability, communication and customer service skills
- Ability to consistently deliver quality in a timely manner
- Computer savvy (Word, Excel, Office); working knowledge of POS programs
Qualification:
- 5 years kitchen management experience
- 3-5 years prep chef or kitchen line experience
- Strong knowledge in kitchen safety regulations, cooking, and social media management.
- Ability to manage 3-5 team members
- Ability to open new locations
- Problem solving capabilities and patient demeanor.
- Communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand on your feet for several hours
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
