JOB SUMMARY:

The Bookkeeper will maintain the organization’s financial records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role involves processing transactions, maintaining detailed records, preparing reports, and supporting financial audits. The Bookkeeper plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and in supporting strategic decision-making with accurate financial data. Must demonstrate good judgment, ability to be approachable and professional, solid problem-solving skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, and ability to be self-motivated and well organized. This role is central to the financial health of the organization requiring a proactive approach to problem solving and a high degree of confidentiality.

POSITION CONTEXT:

The position reports directly to the Executive Director. The position is required to work a part-time work week, as designated by the RFG Employee Handbook, typically averaging 16-24 hours per week. This position routinely handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information.

EXAMPLES OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

General Tasks:

  • Financial Management
  • Pay bills using Bill Pay and record transactions in QuickBooks in a timely manner
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly
  • Record donations and payments received and ensure proper application to accounts
  • Monitor cash flow and report any discrepancies
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting
  • Generate accurate financial reports using QuickBooks and Excel
  • Provide financial summaries, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports
  • Maintain detailed and organized financial records in both physical and digital format
  • File documents such as invoices, receipts and other financial records
  • Attend monthly Finance Committee meeting
  • Audit Preparation
  • Prepare documentation and materials needed for annual financial audit
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and financial regulations
  • Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Collaborate in the review and updating of financial policies and procedures
  • Compliance and Confidentiality
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial data and records
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Respond to requests for financial information promptly and professionally
  • Other Duties
  • Perform other administrative and financial tasks as assigned by the Executive Director

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of:

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (online version required) and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and general internet-browsing tools
  • Understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial reporting and audit preparation

Skills:

  • Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines

Ability to:

  • Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Adhere to regulations and standards.
  • Write professional emails and financial reports
  • Demonstrate a strong interest and show compassion for the issues of food insecurity and poverty.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily a desk-based position. The noise level varies but is generally moderate to loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The duties of this position require frequent sitting for extended periods while working on a computer. Occasional lifting of files or office materials up to 25 lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or work experience in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience using QuickBooks online.

Provide your own reliable transportation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week

  • 4 hour shift
