Summary :
The Children's Day Treatment Mental Health Practitioner will facilitate group skills sessions, provide individual and family support, and implement treatment plans to support children's emotional and behavioral development. This role is essential in helping children develop coping skills, improve social interactions, and succeed in home, school, and community settings.
The Children's Day Treatment Mental Health Practitioner will support anti-oppressive / anti-racist practice, and trauma-responsive practice, through their administrative, and operations support of program staff and interns working on site, in community / office, and remotely to address socioeconomic and health disparity. Experience and interest in working with clients and colleagues with a range of identities including age, developmental and acquired disabilities, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, relationship structure, indigenous heritage, national origin, immigration status, and gender is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Facilitate skills group sessions for children in the day treatment program.
- Provide individual support to children as needed, focusing on emotional regulation and skill-building.
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Engage in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor and document progress, behaviors, and interventions in compliance with program standards.
- Utilize trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to support children's mental health needs.
- Engage in supervision and consultation with the Treatment Supervisor
- Document services in accordance with DHS and insurance requirements
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions as required.
- Other related duties may be assigned
Preferred Qualifications / Experience :
Practitioner is qualified through work experience if the practitioner has either :
Work Environment :
Primarily a therapeutic classroom or day treatment facility designed for young children. May include daytime and after-school hours, depending on program needs.
Physical Requirements : Ability to sit, stand, and actively engage with children; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
