Summary
The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for managing and securing the agency's cyber infrastructure, supporting operations, applications, and appliances to defend cyber terrain. This role involves hands-on security management, network configurations, and incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage firewall configurations and security policies.
- Administer host intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Conduct security information and event management (SIEM), including audit log review and analysis.
- Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation activities.
- Provide incident response support and forensic investigations.
- Assist with technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Support the agency with project tracking using the integrated master schedule.
- Prepare and present project updates to agency change boards.
- Perform other cybersecurity-related duties as assigned.
Security Clearance & Citizenship Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active Top-Secret clearance required.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, OR 4-7 years of experience in cybersecurity.
- IAT or IAM Level III certification required (e.g., CASP, CCNP, CISA, CISSP, CISM).
Required Skills and Experience
- Expertise in PowerShell & Bash scripting for automation and security operations.
- Strong experience in networking and firewall configuration.
- Knowledge of authentication configuration methods.
- Proficiency in DNS/IP configuration for secure network operations.
- Deep understanding of systems engineering, security operations, and incident response methodologies.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with EPO/Trellix/ESS (Endpoint Protection solutions).
- Knowledge of Tenable/ACAS/Nessus (security vulnerability scanning tools).
- Hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise, including system migrations, forwarder configurations, IoT integrations, and deployment of Splunk applications.
