Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty : Operating Room (OR)
Job Duration : 12 months
Shift : 40 hours per week; 8-hour shifts; 0700-1530 with 2 weekday calls (1530 to 0700) and 1 weekend call every 6 weeks (0700 to 1900)
Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours
Experience : Must be a graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing
License : Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State
Certifications : Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card
Must-Have : Ability to scrub and circulate
Job Description :
- Provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Perform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through a systematic collection and review of patient-specific data.
- Plan and prioritize care based on the assessment, evaluate patient progress, and revise care to attain expected outcomes, involving patient / family in planning care and evaluating outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards.
- Assess patient / family learning needs, plan and provide education, involving other disciplines as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes.
- Identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care and provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights.
- Initiate collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.
- Act as a patient advocate.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, medical staff, and the public.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations, applying critical thinking and communication skills.
- Maintain safety and a hazard-free work environment, adhering to proper precautions to establish a safe setting.
- Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and may be required to take calls and / or work weekends and holidays based on department needs.
