Job Summary :
In collaboration with leadership, physicians, and the Quality and Patient Safety Department, the Manager, Performance Improvement is responsible for the planning and execution of quality functions for RSFH programs, including the support of continuous excellence projects and adherence to quality reporting required by government and commercial entities and RSFH.
The Manager functions as a project advisor; reporting on the status of projects, and overseeing implementation and evaluation plans, and training project team members to use established quality improvement methods to maximize quality and efficiency. The Manager oversees the development of quality metrics for their assigned areas and maintenance of institutional and external databases, as appropriate. This position prepares quality reports, scorecards, and presentations, analyzes trends of performance metrics, identifies opportunities for improvement, and develops action plans in partnership with IPN / Ancillary Department leadership. This role serves as a liaison between clinicians and IT, working to develop and ensure appropriate use of computer / data systems for clinical decision support, and works collaboratively with other Quality divisions to ensure the coordination of high-quality, evidence-based care across the continuum and health system.
Essential Job Functions :
- Provides supervision, direction and support to Quality Outcomes Coordinators, Project Managers, and other departmental staff regarding initiatives. Interviews and hires new teammates as necessary. Conducts new teammate orientation and training, as well as coaching, rounding and evaluations of all assigned staff. Develops teammates through appropriate job assignments.
- Coordinates Integrated Systems of Care for RSFH by facilitating quality improvement efforts. Works closely with IPN Directors, Medical Directors, Quality staff and IT to integrate and transform the health care provided by RSFH to maximize value for patients. Oversees specialty-specific accreditation programs, as appropriate.
- By careful evaluation and confirmation, promotes the development, adoption and system wide spread of evidenced-based, process driven treatment methods which are deemed 'best practice' and implements these processes. Facilitates the development of clinical care pathways, guidelines and protocols.
- Provides and utilizes change management theory, performance improvement methodology, and provides training in performance improvement (e.g. PDSA, Lean, RCA, etc.)
- Works closely with Clinical Informatics and clinical leaders to provide data analysis and reporting of information that includes but not limited to clinical processes, clinical outcomes, access, patient satisfaction, and appropriate care. Interfaces with a variety of internal and external databases to obtain required data to produce reports that visualize gaps and help prioritize improvements in quality and cost-effective care of patients.
- Provides education and presentations regarding change management, quality outcomes, and patient safety.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
