We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Summer Associate – Acquisitions to join our real estate investment team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in underwriting, diligencing, and closing real estate investment opportunities, with a primary focus on multifamily assets in NYC and surrounding markets. The Summer Associate will work closely with senior team members, contributing to all aspects of the investment process, from deal sourcing and financial modeling to investment committee presentations and capital raising efforts.

Responsibilities
- Assist with underwriting, diligencing, and closing real estate investment opportunities; emphasis on equity investments in multifamily located in NYC and surrounding markets (core-plus to opportunistic risk profiles)
- Coordinate internal investment approval process, including creating and presenting detailed memos to the Investment Committee for deal approval
- Develop relationships with brokers, sellers, and owners
- Capital raising and research initiatives, including private fundraising
- Conduct market research and data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in target investment markets.
- Support financial modeling efforts, including sensitivity analyses, scenario planning, and returns forecasting for potential acquisitions.
- Assist in preparing term sheets, LOIs, and other transaction documents to facilitate deal negotiations.
- Participate in property tours, site visits, and meetings with brokers, owners, and third-party consultants.
- Analyze operating statements, rent rolls, and other financial documents to assess asset performance and investment potential.
- Collaborate with asset management teams to track and assess the performance of past acquisitions and apply lessons learned to new opportunities.
- Work with legal teams to review purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, and other transaction-related documents.
- Maintain and update internal deal pipeline tracking systems to ensure accurate reporting of potential investments.
- Research and evaluate capital sources, including debt financing options, to optimize investment structures.
- Assist in preparing investor presentations and marketing materials for capital raising efforts.
- Must be present on-site, with the ability to move throughout the office, ensuring effective communication with staff, vendors and visitors.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs and be comfortable with exposure to varying environmental climates and circumstances.
- Position may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s Degree in business, finance or real estate development is preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of excellence in academic, professional, and personal endeavors
- Strong understanding of real estate market trends, particularly in U.S. asset classes; NYC-specific knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in navigating computers and software, including advanced Excel skills for exceptional financial modeling skills for multi-tiered cash flow waterfalls involving multiple partners
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact daily with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as to develop and present detailed investment memos for deal approvals
- Proactive team player with excellent multitasking skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of intellectual curiosity and a self-starter mentality
