Rose Cafe is seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. As a vital part of our kitchen, you will be responsible for creating, innovating and executing seasonal dessert menus while fostering a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation, baking, and finishing of all baked goods, including but not limited to bread, croissants, cookies, cakes, tarts, pies, and candies, ensuring quality and consistency in all products.
- Lead the creation and development of custom desserts, contributing to new menu proposals and product innovation.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient workflow, consistently producing high-quality pastries, croissants and desserts under tight deadlines.
- Design and decorate cakes, pastries, croissants and other items with an artistic approach, paying close attention to plating and presentation standards.
- Maintain a spotless and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and adhering to the highest food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Manage inventory of food supplies, including fresh produce, dairy, and other key ingredients, ensuring proper storage and rotation to minimize waste.
- Assist with staff training, sharing pastry knowledge, techniques, and best practices to develop the culinary team.
- Support in maintaining food cost controls and monitor quality to meet budgetary targets.
- Contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the cafe, assisting in scheduling, production planning, and menu development.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, with proven expertise in both classic and modern pastry techniques.
- Strong understanding of pastry tools, equipment, and baking methods, with the ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Proficiency in French pastry techniques, cake making and decorating, ice cream/sorbet making, and plating and presentation, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in creating and executing recipes that meet corporate specifications, while maintaining quality control and consistency.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the business.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude, with the ability to lead by example and foster a positive work environment.
Compensation: $75,000 – $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
