School-Based Instructional Coach Job Description
Role: Work closely with the Middle School Director, school administrators, and curriculum & instructional specialists to increase student engagement, improve student achievement, and build teacher capacity. Must be able to lead collaborative team workshops, grade-level teacher learning team cycles, and one-on-one coaching rounds. Coaches must understand the district curriculum goals, be able to analyze student data, and help teachers identify instructional needs.
Salary: 10 month Teacher Salary as designated by NCDPI teaching schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
- Current North Carolina Teaching License
- Demonstrated knowledge of North Carolina content standards
- Experience in researched-based instructional practices
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for teachers
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
- Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection
General Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed
- Provide support in analyzing student assessment data
- Assist teachers with designing instructional lessons based on assessment data when requested
- Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies
- Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with district curriculum
- Provide assistance in researching instructional solutions
- Model effective, differentiated instruction when requested
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers
- Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers
- Manage time and create a flexible schedule to assist teacher learning
- Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals
- Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
- Perform duties as assigned by the Principal and the PreK-8 Director
- Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry
