Position Summary:
The Director of Counseling and Wellness provides both clinical and administrative leadership for the Counseling and Wellness Services at Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM). This role involves overseeing the daily operations of counseling services, ensuring high-quality healthcare provision to medical students, and developing wellness programs that promote mental health and wellbeing. The Director will supervise staff and therapists as the program expands, ensuring the delivery of clinical services that address the prevention, diagnosis, and management of mental health issues among students.
In addition to administrative duties, the Director will offer direct clinical care, including individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and mental health assessments. The position requires expertise in clinical supervision, policy development, and the management of the student mental health EHR (Titanium). The Director will also work closely with the Office of Student Affairs to develop wellness programming and monitor student use of services like Talkspace. Active participation in committees and collaboration with other university services, such as Disability Services, is also expected.
Essential Functions:
- Provide clinical and administrative oversight of the Counseling and Wellness Service and related programs.
- Serve as both a clinician and an administrator for clinical operations.
- Assure the provision of high-quality health care for patients through clinical supervision and the development of policies and procedures and clinical management guidelines.
- Hire and supervise future staff and/or therapists as the program grows
- Manage the daily operations of the provision of counseling services for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of mental health issues for RUCOM medical students
- Develop and deliver RUCOM wellness programming for students
- Monitor RUCOM student use of Talkspace along with the Office of Student Affairs
- Provide in person treatment to medical students in a clinical treatment setting.
- Provide telehealth services to students on rotation as appropriate
- Implement and utilize the Titanium student mental health EHR
Requirements
- Experienced therapist with a current licensure in Nevada (or license-eligible).
- Preferred credentials: Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Psychology, or an experienced LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC.
- Strong clinical background with expertise in providing mental health services, including individual, couples, and group therapy.
