What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Coordinator position at Rosemill Hammond?
JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for coordination of all patient benefits. Oversees the inpatient functions, bed assignments and completion of preliminary paperwork for entering patients. Works with medical, nursing and administrative staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Confirms that all insurance coverage meets standards of admissions as dictated by policy. Provides clerical/telephone support for departmental operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Initial contact for outside referral source.
2. Notifies nurse liaison and administrator of referrals.
3. Verifies insurance information on referrals and submits for insurance authorizations.
4. Responsible for coordinating the “teaming process” of all patient referrals.
5. Coordinates transportation for admit.
6. Prepares face sheet and labels for patient file.
7. Notifies DON and staffing coordinator of admit.
8. Prepare census report for daily morning meeting.
9. Prepare/updates weekly staffing report.
10. Maintain evaluation tracking log.
11. Maintain admit/discharge log.
12. Maintain referral log.
13. Performs assembly/quantitative analysis of records for deficiencies according to departmental procedure and within established timeframes.
14. Meets quality standards.
15. Pulls records for requestors within specified timeframe.
16. Refiles records as required.
17. Files reports (diagnostic results, transcribed reports, etc.) into discharged records accurately and within productivity standards.
18. Performs documentation review as requested by supervisor, meeting deadline specified.
19. Performs all tasks related to discharge record retrieval, folder preparation, and processing of records according to departmental procedure and within established timeframes.
20. Monitors and corrects medical record number errors.
21. All other duties as assigned.
