POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Operator reads and follows detailed blueprints and schematics to bend sheets of metal. This position requires the lifting of metal sheets into machines to shear and bend to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary. They must also ensure that the bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lifts metal sheets into machine to shear and bend to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary.
Reads and understands body prints, paper, and CAD.
Ensures that bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build.
Loads completed work in opposite order of specifications for the next department in a dedicated cart to be moved.
Operates plasma machine when needed to ensure that the end work meets the specifications of the build.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the company and our members.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):
Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:
High school diploma/GED required.
Preferred experience with handling break press.
Strong mechanical aptitude required.
Skills:
Language:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Math:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals is required.
Computer:
Ability to perform intermediate PC functions including spreadsheet formulas and functions, queries, tables, merges, and special reports.
Will perform some troubleshooting.
Intermediate experience required.
Abilities:
Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills or related fields.
Able to recognize the importance and adhere to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.
Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
Ability to use basic hand tools and tape measure required.
Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within one’s production process and make the needed adjustments.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
Must be able to lift/manipulate large and heavy sheet metal parts and brake press tooling.
- Ability to identify issues with metal sheets to make sure the customer’s expectations are met.
