We are currently seeking a Process Engineering Technician - BU Transportation to join our team in Akron, PA.

The Process Engineering Technician - BU Transportation ensures optimal daily performance of the Production Line and provides technical support to Operations and Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Production Line setup process and line changeovers.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Production Operators, verify technical training effectiveness.
  • Monitor the Production Process and proactively identify issues to reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
  • Perform in-process inspections to verify conformity to Customer / Engineering requirements.
  • Perform high level maintenance on production tooling and machines.
  • Support Engineering and Production by diagnosing and solving technical issues.
  • Review technical documentation from Engineering to assure end product meets specifications.
  • Review process documentation, work instructions and training plans of the assigned Production Area for accuracy. Collaborate with Process Engineers in updating these documents.
  • Resource for Quality, Engineering, and Production during new part builds, Continuous Improvement projects and in the resolution of quality issues.
  • Support scrap reduction, rate improvement, and cost reduction projects lead by Process Engineers.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, while working with a sense of urgency.
  • Handle multiple responsibilities and react quickly to changing priorities with flexibility and willingness.
  • Maintains regular, predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in a technical discipline required.
  • Hands-on experience in a high volume production environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint) required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to work as part of cross-functional team.
  • Ability to reason through and identify root cause of issues.
  • Excellent analytical and creative thinking, hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to handle tight deadlines, multiple projects and quick changes of priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be conscientious and detail minded.
  • Must be able to work in fast paced, quick changing atmosphere.
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Accurate and detail oriented, quality and budget conscious.
  • Team player, but also able to work individually.
  • Effectively communicate in English with English reading comprehension.
  • Knowledge of wire processing techniques including soldering preferred.
  • Knowledge of the cable industry, requirements, and standards, including IPC 620 preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
