Rosewood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is looking for a dedicated and experienced Medical Records Director to join our team. This role includes the use of PointClickCare clinical software and documentation management. An understanding of the resident care process is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have critical thinking skills, be organized and be able to multitask in a busy environment with multiple interruptions.
- Must have a working knowledge of an Electronic Health Record, HIPAA, medical terminology and some ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Must have an understanding of the Medical Assistance, Medicare, and Supplemental Insurance Programs.
- Experience in LTC preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PDF and EMR software.
- Maintain an organized medical records system, which is readily accessible and systematically organized to facilitate retrieving and compiling information.
- Audit open and closed medical records for D.O.H. regulation compliance according to current policy.
- Review and complete medical records of deceased and discharged residents for completeness and proper order in a timely manner.
- Responsible for archiving of the Medical Record.
- Responsible for the release of medical requests.
- Complete Social Security Administration disability reports; long-term care reports and various other insurance reports.
- Provide support to the Business and Billing offices as needed.
- Must be an active participant in the facility’s Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and Performance Improvement Project (PIP) and carry out roles and responsibilities as assigned.
- Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
- Must maintain current knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations pertaining to medical records.
- Direct oversight of Medical Records, Unit Clerk and Van Driver. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be proficient in reading and writing and understand the spoken and written word. Must be able to apply good sound judgement. Must be able to hear with corrective or adaptive devices and see adequately with corrective eyewear. Must have simple computational skills such as addition, subtractions, multiplication, division and percentages. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, bend at knees and waist, push and pull, turn and lift a minimum of 20 lbs
