Job Summary:
The Surface Landman will be responsible for negotiating and drafting surface land agreements, securing land access, on-site location and pipeline staking, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining positive relationships with landowners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of land acquisition processes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, draft and secure surface agreements, including surface use agreements, subsurface easements, water use agreements, pipeline, water line and electrical easements and surveying access agreement, and other surface related contracts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, stakeholders, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to land access and development.
- Conduct title research, due diligence, and land record analysis.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including legal, engineering, and operations, to facilitate project development.
- Resolve landowner concerns and disputes professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of land agreements and transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 7 years of experience in surface land negotiations within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of land agreements, regulatory compliance, and landowner relations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and land management software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel frequently.
