What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an highly skilled professional who work in the field of eye-care and health or relevant medical field. This is preferred and we encourage everyone with relevant experience to apply. This career does not typically require a bachelor's degree and training is available to anyone with a high school diploma too. If you are interested in pursuing a healthcare career but would prefer not to attend medical school, a job as an ophthalmic technician could be the perfect choice for you. Your primary office will be Northbrook and may be required to travel to Michigan Avenue office once a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.

Assists as Laser surgery technician, training will be provided.

Performs preliminary evaluations including but not limited to obtaining accurate and detailed patient histories, reviewing medication lists carefully, visual acuities, motility evaluations, pupil and angle assessments, refraction, pachymetry, applanation tonometry, and pupil dilation

Performs special testing including but not limited to OCTs, biometry, topography, and retinal imaging/photography

Performs all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail; takes initiative to explain all measurements and answer any questions the patient may have

Identifies situations involving dissatisfied patients and acts quickly for resolution.

Performs work efficiently, accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and patient volume.

Handles and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner in accordance with practice standards and HIPAA

Effectively utilizes appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures.

Maintains safe working environment for all team members and patients.

Adapts to various examination scenarios and is personable with patients and staff.

Responsible for maintenance and disinfection of equipment and exam lanes

Adheres to attendance and daily time keeping requirements.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Proactively fulfills all responsibilities as assigned by lead technician or ophthalmologist
Required Qualifications:
· High School graduate or equivalent
· 1 year of strong customer service skills (internal/external)
· Strong communicator and listener
· Problem solving ability
· Strong interpersonal and organization skills
· Ability to assess priorities, address multiple tasks and deadlines in fast-paced environment
· Ability to use exam software, point-of-sale technology and ophthalmic equipment
· Ability to work autonomously
· Knowledge of office environment
Preferred qualifications but not required:
· Experience in healthcare/clinical setting
· Previous experience in customer service, retail and/or optical
· Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) Certification(s
