Position Overview: The Restaurant Assistant Front of House Manager assists the Front of House (FOH) Manager in overseeing daily operations of the restaurant's customer-facing areas. This role is key to ensuring that guests receive excellent service, while maintaining a smooth, efficient, and organized operation. The Assistant FOH Manager will supervise staff, handle customer inquiries and complaints, and ensure the restaurant delivers a memorable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management and Training:
- Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling front of house staff including servers, hosts, bartenders, and bussers.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure high standards of customer service and adherence to restaurant policies.
- Customer Service:
- Greet and interact with customers to ensure they are satisfied with their experience.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns promptly, resolving issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that all customer interactions are courteous and professional.
- Operations Management:
- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the dining room, bar, and other front-facing areas.
- Ensure proper table setups and cleanliness, and oversee the timely seating of guests.
- Monitor the flow of guests, ensuring the efficient management of waitlists, reservations, and seating arrangements.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Assist with inventory control, ordering supplies, and managing stock for the front of house.
- Monitor the restaurant’s appearance and ensure it’s in line with company standards for cleanliness and organization.
- Sales and Budgeting:
- Help manage daily revenue reports, ensuring proper cash handling and accurate transactions.
- Assist in achieving sales goals and ensuring cost control while maintaining service standards.
- Provide input for promotions, special events, and ways to enhance the guest experience.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all safety and sanitation standards are being followed.
- Maintain knowledge of health and safety regulations and ensure they are implemented by all staff.
- Enforce proper liquor service and ensure all legal regulations are adhered to.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Foster a positive working environment with clear communication between kitchen and front of house staff.
- Work closely with the FOH Manager, kitchen staff, and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Assist in organizing special events or private dining experiences as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a restaurant setting preferred.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficient in restaurant POS systems and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and liquor regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
