Job Summary: Accounts Payable Clerk
The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of Ross Downing by ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing:
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate authorization.
- Code invoices with proper general ledger account codes.
- Enter invoices into the accounting system with accuracy and efficiency.
- Payment Processing:
- Prepare and process payment runs in accordance with payment terms and company policies.
- Reconcile vendor statements to ensure all invoices are accounted for and paid on time.
- Address and resolve payment discrepancies with vendors.
- Vendor Management:
- Communicate effectively with vendors to obtain necessary documentation and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate vendor records, including contact information and payment terms.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
- Month-End Close:
- Assist in month-end closing processes related to accounts payable.
- Provide support for financial audits and internal audits as needed.
- Reconcile and verify expense report receipts and documentation.
- Recordkeeping:
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical records of all accounts payable transactions.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of accounts payable procedures.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of automotive dealership accounting practices (preferred but not required).
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Accounting or finance education is a plus.
