Summary
The Material Handler performs duties in accordance with training, written and verbal instructions, policies, practices, and procedures. General tasks revolve around supply of materials to molding machines and efficient changeovers when orders complete. Daily direction is taken from the Lead Process Technician.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
· Conduct all activities safely to prevent personal injury and/or property damage, while actively monitoring actions of other employees to report risky behavior.
· Follow all safety instructions, LOTO procedures, and correct or reports all safety concerns immediately upon discovery.
· Communicate with employees and visitors in a professional, positive, and helpful manner.
· Maintain housekeeping standards by following established 5S program.
· Obtain and maintain forklift certification to move materials and equipment as necessary.
· Utilize IQMS to accurately and effectively…
o Determine current production details (Work Order, BOM, Hours to Go, etc.)
o Determine upcoming order details (Change of Resin, Change of Colorant, etc.)
o Search inventory for required resins, packaging, etc.
o Plan and communicate with others to reduce changeover times.
o Follow special instructions.
· Use electronic communication (email, text, radio) to ask and answer questions and relay important details in real time across all shifts.
· Operate material handling equipment as trained, including Dryers, Blenders, Grinders, Receivers, Pallet Tippers, Vacuums, etc.
· Perform preventative maintenance as trained and on the determined frequency. Ex: Screen and filter cleaning with a vacuum, magnet removal and cleaning, etc.
· Select appropriate size equipment and orientation for the application. Ex: Pairing wide mouth grinders with large difficult to capture runners ensuring smooth transition to the blades.
· Maintain floor presence checking resin levels at each machine to eliminate risk of downtime due to lack of material, packaging, or inserts.
· Test and document moisture content of hygroscopic resins by sampling material from the hopper and utilizing the moisture analyzer.
· Attach correct material identification labels to all containers and equipment to avoid cross contamination.
· Cooperate with Process and Maintenance Technicians to address material related alarms, inoperable material handling equipment, part and/or runner buildup.
· Complete and attach maintenance tickets to equipment that requires repair.
· Request additional material, packaging, inserts, etc. from the warehouse team.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalency, required.
· Experience in Materials handling
· Strong attendance, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Troubleshooting abilities
