CLINICAL SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - Outpatient Primary Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health
Job Description
Reports to : Clinical Director FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Support Technician is responsible for providing confidential addiction and / or mental health care and support to individuals, families, and the community, and for promoting healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Clinical Support Technician will work with other members of a multi-disciplinary team in leading milieu activities such as group therapies, community meetings and / or recreational activities, as appropriate to the client population.
Charts observations of client’s behaviors and participation in programming, following prescribed procedures and standards.
Responds to client’s emotional / behavioral episodes and provides assistance in crisis intervention.
Maintains confidentiality of client records.
Performs client intake forms, including release of information forms.
Takes client’s vital signs, weights and urine specimens.
Attends in-service education and staff meetings as appropriate .
Maintains established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team for all clients.
Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Director / Executive Director.
JOB TYPE & SCHEDULE
Part-Time (on-site) / Non-Exempt
24 hours per week
Monday - Thursday 4pm - 10pm (with some flexibility)
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience in substance use and / or mental health treatment required.
Associate’s Degree with at least 1 year of experience in substance use and / or mental health treatment required.
CADC or CRSS preferred; or in process of obtaining
Must have CADC or CRSS within 24 months of hire
Experience with startup organizations is preferred.

Emergency and safety : understand and follow facility emergency and safety procedures, respond to emergencies in a safe and effective manner, provide first aid and CPR as needed, and maintain a safe and secure environment for clients and staff.
Overdose prevention : all staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose and respond appropriately and need to be trained in the use of naloxone and other overdose reversal medications.
Suicide risk and prevention : All staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide risk and respond appropriately and need to be trained in suicide prevention strategies.

Organizational Skills : The Clinical Support Technician must be able to effectively manage their time and resources. They must be able to maintain a caseload, meet with clients, and complete paperwork.
Flexibility : The Clinical Support Technician must be able to adapt to change. They must be able to adjust their approach to treatment as needed, and they must be able to handle unexpected situations.
Self-Awareness : The Clinical Support Technician must be aware of their own biases and limitations. They must be able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and they must be able to use this knowledge to improve their practice.
Empathy : The Clinical Support Technician must be able to understand and empathize with their clients. They must be able to see the world from their clients' perspective, and they must be able to offer support and understanding.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk up and down stairs during emergency drills or situations.
