What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cook position at Round Lake Christian Camp?
The position of Assistant Cook is hired to assist in a camp kitchen during the summer camp season. Assistant Cook is responsible for providing a healthy, fulfilling meal for campers, volunteers and staff in a loving, Christian environment. Additional hours may also be available (but are not guaranteed) during retreats throughout the year, including evenings and weekends. Assistant Cook works directly under the Cook and must be willing and able to cover shifts and duties for Cook as needed.
Both full-time and part-time seasonal positions available. By-weekly Pay . Employment with Round Lake Christian Camp is at-will.
Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and serving large quantities of food
- Using camp kitchen equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including but not limited to grill, ovens, deep fryers, dishwasher, large mixer, food slicer and coffee maker
- Cleaning all camp kitchen equipment and camp kitchens as needed
- Maintaining a high standard of sanitation in food preparation
- Stocking pantry, storerooms, coolers and freezers on delivery days
- Supervising Food Service Assistants and kitchen volunteers when needed to fill in for Cook
- Must follow all Ohio Department of Health Guidelines
Education/Experience
- Large quantity cooking experience preferred.

- Physical Demands: exposed to heat from ovens, burners and steam trays; exposed to cutting and slicing equipment and machines with moving parts; required to stand for prolonged periods; required to move heavy supplies and full pans of food weighing up to 50 pounds; exposed to high noise levels from kitchen equipment and campers at meals; required to wear protective clothing
- Mathematical Skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
