Duties & Responsibilities
· Lead dock and lift crew – (communicating daily tasks, troubleshooting issues etc.)
· Operate and navigate the barge safely on lakes, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety procedures.
· Transport equipment, and marina staff to designated locations, maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
· Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the barge, including checking fuel, engine, and safety equipment, and performing minor repairs or coordinating with marine mechanics.
· Monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding safe barge operations, including the suspension of services in adverse conditions.
· Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of equipment on the barge, adhering to weight limits and stability requirements.
· Communicate effectively with marina staff to provide clear instructions and address concerns.
· Maintain accurate records of barge operations, fuel consumption, maintenance reports, and incident documentation.
· Assist in the cleaning and general upkeep of the barge, including maintaining cleanliness and organizing supplies.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 1 year of experience as a barge operator or in a similar role.
· Thorough knowledge of lake navigation, including rules of the road and buoy systems.
· Ability to read and interpret maps, and GPS systems.
· Strong communication skills to effectively interact with marina staff members.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
· Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
· Boat safety certification.
· Valid Commercial Driver’s license.
Physical Demands
· Ability to operate and maneuver the barge, including steering, docking, and anchoring.
· Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects, such as equipment and supplies, as required (75 pounds).
· Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including exposure to sunlight, wind, rain, and temperature extremes.
· Able to handle the demands of the job, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
