Day Program Driver
Summary:
Drivers to transport passengers with an Intellectual/Developmental Disability to and from Day Program,
Pay Range: $17.00 an hour
Shift: Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance, supervision, training, and support needed by program participants for safe transportation.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment including care of agency vehicles.
- Participate in conversations with the program participants.
- Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.
- Complete appropriate documentation on time for assigned caseload.
- Model and promote appropriate behavior and responsible social interactions.
- Provide feedback to the management team when there are concerns about policies and procedures potentially re-traumatizing program participants.
- Responsible for supporting and maintaining a physically and psychologically safe environment.
- Uphold principles of the trauma informed care of Roundup Fellowship.
- Participate in training and events that specifically address the intersection of trauma with culture, history, race, gender, location, and language.
- Recognize the impact of vicarious trauma on the workforce and continually assess in supervision signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma as well as self-care plans.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school graduate (or equivalent).
- One-year experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language for required paperwork, testing and professional communication.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License, with 5 years driving experience.
- Satisfactory driving record with no more that two minor violations in the past three years and no major violations in the past five years.
- Satisfactory central registry and CBI, Fingerprints results and CAPS records check.
- Successful completion of First Aid and CPR.
- Successful completion of the full Safety Care certification.
- Physical and Mental Demands:
- Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching in providing support to program participants with a variety of mobility challenges.
- May require the ability to lift 50 lbs. in lifting, transferring and pushing wheelchairs of the program participants.
- Requires normal range of vision and hearing for adequately supervising program participants.
- Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of program participants with challenging behaviors.
