Kitchen Specialist
Job Summary:
Oversees the preparation and service of meals in the school, ensuring quality and efficiency in food service operations. Responsible for providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Attends all mandatory meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and policies.

Benefits begin at first of the following month after completing a full 30 days of employment (i.e. start date 4 January 2025, benefits initiate 1 March 2025).
Pay Range: $18.67 – $22.25 an hour based off experience with youth 5-18.
Shift: Monday – Friday 7:30 to 3:30
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uphold the mission, values, policies, and procedures of Roundup Fellowship.
- Plan and disseminate weekly/monthly menu for breakfast and lunch.
- Ensures food preparation according to menu and specifications.
- Ensures food quality and timely service.
- Oversees and assists kitchen and lunchroom clean up.
- Ensures proper cleaning and sterilization of utensils, equipment and facilities.
- Communicates information obtained in meetings and training along with proper methods for safe and sterile food service to staff.
- Prepares foods for special events as needed.
- Determines approximate number of students to be present each day and orders accordingly
- Maintains accurate inventory and inventory controls.
- Completes and submits accurate forms and paperwork to meet established deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum age of 25.
- High school graduate (or equivalent) and four years’ experience working with children OR a Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of volume food preparation methods, procedures and techniques.
- Ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Satisfactory Central Registry and CBI record check.
- Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data.
- Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while dealing with a variety of emotions and frustrations.
- Requires scheduling flexibility, including being on-call.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to communicate effectively with respect and tact to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate plans, prepare materials.
- Certification in crisis management-Safety Care.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Requires sufficient range of physical strength, endurance, and mobility to assist with food preparation.
- Requires adequate range of hearing and vision to properly supervise students.
- Requires mental flexibility, emotional stability, personal maturity, and creativity in dealing with difficult situations.
- Successful completion of the organization’s crisis intervention training Safety Care, which includes restraints.
