We are seeking an experienced and passionate Baker II to join our dynamic team at Route 66 Casino Hotel. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare food products to proper specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness in and around the bakeshop area, including all equipment.
- Accurately scale and measure ingredients within reasonable tolerances.
- Notify Pastry Chef when stock runs low to insure production runs smoothly, effectively, and accurately.
- Prepare pans for the baking of pies, cakes, and scheduled pastries.
- Load and unload ovens.
- Fill racks for transportation and storage.
- Properly label and store back-up products.
- Communicate production problems to supervisor.
- Prepare various pastries, desserts, confections and bread etc. as needed for all areas of casino restaurant outlets.
- Effectively communicate with management, chefs and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
- Work multiple work activities simultaneously.
- Must be poised to handle a fast paced environment with multiple tasks under time constraint.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Communicate regularly with the Pastry Chef.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Meet Department productivity standards.
- Working knowledge of health, safety and sanitation procedures.
- Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost.
- Provide assistance to the pastry chefs with regard to special functions and project preparation and presentation.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- One-year relevant work experience as a baker in a fast paced and high-volume bakery or restaurant.
- Certification from a culinary school preferred.
