The Nursing Success Coach is responsible for developing and conducting retention and support activities for students identified as at-risk of failing in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. This position provides direct academic support, mentoring, and coordinated service delivery plan and connects students to needed resources with the primary purpose of improving course completion and graduation outcomes in the Program.

This is a part-time, grant- funded position. This is a 9-month, 16-20 hour per week position.
- Develops a streamlined delivery service in assisting current and returning nursing students to develop an academic success plan for degree completion.
- Provides direct service and support to current and returning students through information regarding the College's programs and services, registration, transcript evaluation, orientation, assessment of learning, and facilitating student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student co- and extra-curricular activities offered at the College.
- Identifies barriers to student success, develops action plans to focus on graduation, tracks and communicates opportunities to improve services and support efforts at the campus.
- Provides individual counseling to each enrolled nursing student to develop customized program completion pathways for nursing students to complete their degree.
- Accesses data from entrance application exam - Health Sciences Reasoning Test (HSRT) and review analytics for individuals and cohorts. Applies this data in organizing individual and or cohort interventions.
- Develops and implements strategies/workshops etc. based on aggregate assessment data that prepares nursing students for success.
- Develops and maintain a comprehensive database for tracking students’ success toward course completion and graduation.
- Conducts regular evaluations to ascertain whether all activities /components are contributing to the attainment of program objectives (graduation)
- Develops and coordinates a faculty-to-student and student-to-student mentor program, which will pair students with mentors to provide additional support as they pursue degree completion.
- Develops and coordinates semester-based student engagement activities (for example Meet and Greet).
- Collaborates with other Student Services departments and Academic Services to achieve enrollment goals, devise customized program completion plans and monitors student progress.
- Delivers accurate and timely documentation, reporting and tracking of students in database to ensure program objectives and retention goals.
- Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address and resolve student issues and ensure positive student experience. Addresses potential student concerns and seeks appropriate resolution to potential problems.
- Mentors program graduates through the NCLEX preparation period.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred
- Current valid license as a Registered Nurse. NJ Registered Nurse license required throughout employment in the position
- Experience in health care/nursing education
- Knowledge of student development and resources to promote student success
- Previous experience mentoring
- Must have demonstrated experience maintaining confidentiality
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis n Excel, Word, and Access
- Experience with higher education software, Ellucian Banner preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently
- Available to work flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.
- Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings.
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
