What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach - 1st Assistant position at Rowan College of South Jersey?
The Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach- 1st Assistant is responsible for all phases of developing and maintaining a successful Men's Wrestling Program at the College through their support of the Head Men's Wrestling Coach. This is a part-time seasonal position.
*This position coaches the Gloucester Campus Roadrunners*
- Recruitment of potential student-athletes
- Practice preparation
- In and out-of season training
- Game/match day management
- Retention of quality student-athletes
- Ensure the success and safety of student athletes on and off the field
- Monitors team members' academic progress and performance and makes referrals to the appropriate College departments to enhance student's academic success.
- Safe transportation of team members to and from away contests
- Adherence to all NJCAA, Region 19, RCSJ and Athletic Department rules and regulations
- Assist the Head Coach with fundraising and development of alumni and community relations
- Ability to be a team player within the Athletics Department and the College
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Executive Director of Athletics
- Past playing and/or coaching experience in the sport of wrestling is required
- College degree preferred
- Valid driver's license in good standing required
- Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
