Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. Rowan County is made up of more than 20 departments and nearly 1,250 employees that are committed to providing a wealth of services to County residents and businesses.
The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Office Assistant II. This position types and proofreads a variety of reports, letters, memos, and documents; greets the public; answers questions from the public in person and by telephone; receives and routes mail to the appropriate individuals; scans files; schedules appointments and meetings; maintain supplies; and other related duties as required.
Requires general knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to type with accuracy; ability to effectively communicate in person and by telephone; to be tactful and courteous and to use decorum in projecting a favorable public image; ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures; ability to gather and give basic information and instructions regarding departmental programs based upon inquiries; and ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma; general clerical or secretarial experience including Excel and Word preferred.
Starting Salary $28,900 - $31,700/annual (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available. Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement, 401K, flexible spending, paid holidays, employee discounts, and more.
