Elementary Literacy Improvement Consultant

Position Description

The Rowan-Salisbury School System is seeking a highly skilled Reading Design Coach to support the implementation of our Literacy Plan. This role will work closely with K-5 staff to enhance their ability to provide reading instruction that builds students' sense of engagement and ownership in learning. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of researched-based reading, writing, and literacy development, and successful implementation in a classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver professional development opportunities that meet the diverse needs of our teachers.
• Provide coaching and modeling of best teaching practices through demonstration lessons and collaborative planning.
• Work with school administrators to collect and analyze data and develop instructional plans in response to determined student needs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with teachers and administrators to promote a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for student learning.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Education or a related field.
• 5 years proven successful elementary classroom experience.
• Deep knowledge of researched-based reading, writing, and literacy development, and successful implementation in a classroom environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
