Reading Design Coach
Reports to : Principal
Purpose : The Instructional Reading Design Coach will support all K-5 staff in the implementation of the Rowan-Salisbury School System's Literacy Plan. The Coach will work directly with teachers to provide on-going embedded professional development, classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one feedback with support. The Coach will focus on enhancing teachers' ability to provide reading instruction that builds students' sense of engagement in the ownership of learning. The Coach will work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret data, and use it to guide instructional decisions.
Qualifications
- 5 years proven successful elementary classroom experience
- Deep knowledge of researched based reading, writing and literacy development, and successful implementation in a classroom environment
- Solid interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration) to share research based instructional approaches with teachers and administrators and provide advice, mentoring and coaching
- Experience in delivering effective professional development
- Ability to create and conduct customized professional development
- Strong organizational skills
- Master's degree preferred
