We are accepting applications for the position of Director of Student Affairs for the Physician Assistant Program. The program will be offered on the campus of Rowan College of Jersey in Sewell, NJ, which also houses the Sewell campus of the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Director of Clinical Education will work closely with program personnel to develop and administer the program in compliance with the standards of the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).
The Director of Student Affairs for the Physician Assistant Program is responsible for overseeing and managing all administrative, operational, and external relations aspects of the program. This role involves collaborating closely with the Program Director, faculty, and staff to ensure smooth program operations and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards. The Director will coordinate program communications, including public relations, admissions, alumni engagement, and partnerships with clinical sites and community organizations. They will also manage student professionalism, academic preparedness and progression, support recruitment and retention of students. Additionally, the Director of Student Affairs will play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive program culture, ensuring compliance with policies, and advancing the program’s strategic goals. This faculty member will also contribute to the department through teaching and providing academic counseling to students, albeit in a reduced capacity.

Qualifications
- Must hold at least a Master's degree as a Physician Assistant or in a related healthcare discipline.
- Must be NCCPA certified and have or be eligible for current licensure in New Jersey.
- Must have a minimum of two years’ experience as a physician assistant in a clinical setting.
- Teaching and administrative experience preferred.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills including good oral and written communication abilities.
- Must have strong organizational skills necessary to develop and implement both short and long-term plans.
- Must be able to oversee multiple different aspects of the didactic curriculum to ensure compliance with ARC-PA standards.
- Must have a familiarity with common office, academic software.
- Develop, implement, and manage student support services, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all PA students throughout the program.
- Advise and provide academic, personal, and professional counseling to students, identifying strategies for academic success and well-being.
- Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to address student concerns, promote engagement, and resolve conflicts.
- Coordinate and implement student orientation programs, mentoring initiatives, and other activities that support new and continuing student integration and success.
- Oversee the development and administration of policies and procedures related to student affairs, ensuring compliance with program, college, university, and accreditation standards.
- Plan and execute events and programs, such as student awards, graduation ceremonies, and professional development workshops.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to support student recruitment, selection, and retention efforts, including participation in open houses, interviews, and other admissions activities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress throughout the curriculum, providing remediation plans and academic interventions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, advising sessions, and other related data for compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate wellness initiatives and mental health resources for students, connecting them with internal and external support services as necessary.
- Foster relationships with alumni and external organizations to enhance student development opportunities, mentorships, and career placements.
- Represent the PA program at institutional, community, and national meetings and conferences, particularly those focused on student affairs and higher education.
- Participate in the design, evaluation, and improvement of policies, activities, and support services to enhance student engagement and success.
- Chair the Student Progress Committee within the PA Program, leading discussions and initiatives to enhance student performance and alignment with program goals.
- Chair the Admissions Committee within the PA Program, leading discussions and initiatives to enhance admissions quality and alignment with program goals.
- Coordinate, instruct, teach and, evaluate students throughout the PA program curriculum as assigned by the Program Director.
- Participate in the development and design of the Physician Assistant Program.
- Course-direct, develop, implement, and analyze graduate level physician assistant courses in the PA program.
- Evaluate student performance as needed throughout the PA curriculum.
- Provide academic counseling of graduate PA students as assigned by the Program Director.
- Assist with and provide remedial instruction throughout the curriculum as assigned by the Program Director.
- Assist with the comprehensive data collection, self-assessment, evaluation, analysis, and implementation of action plans necessary for the ongoing evaluation of the PA program.
- Participate in professional development directly related to PA education.
- Assist with the development, review, and revision of the PA program mission, goals, and competencies.
- Capstone project advising as assigned by the Program Director.
- Participate in recruitment, screening, and selection of PA student applicants.
- Participate in program, college and university-related search committees.
- Participate in regular faculty meetings, retreats, program, college and university committees, and professional organizations.
- Attend local, state, and national conferences and designated programs pertinent to physician assistant education and practice to enhance teaching, management and/or clinical abilities.
- Engage in scholarly activities, community service, and program related grant or research projects.
- Serve on college and university committees and task forces.
- Maintain membership in national, state and local professional organizations.
- Participate in community service activities and university outreach.
- Assist the Program Director in the coordination and production of information related to program accreditation to ensure the ARC-PA Standards are met and maintained.
