Program Coordinator, Testing Services (Professional Services Specialist 4 - AFT Range 18)
Department: Accessibility Services, University College
Summary: Professional staff member in a 12-month multifaceted and evolving role as the mission and services of the Testing Center expand. This professional will support the Assistant Director of Testing Services in coordinating all activity of the Testing Center. The Program Coordinator will provide expert and courteous support to students, faculty, and others, and will assist part-time employees and graduate student workers as they perform their roles. This position requires a high level of energy, autonomy, initiative, ability and willingness to learn as well as excellent leadership, organizational, technical, and communication abilities. The Program Coordinator will report to the Senior Director of Accessibility Services. This is an in-person position.
Specific Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to Assistant Director of Testing Services in performing day-to-day management of all Testing Center activities
- Assist with supervision, coordination, training, and supporting part-time clerical staff, proctors, and student workers regarding procedures and protocol for all tests offered in the Testing Center in conjunction with Assistant Director of Testing Services
- Support the administration of exams for students with disabilities, in compliance with ADA
- Assist in administration of placement testing for incoming students, including monitoring and communicating with students regarding procedures and results
- Ensure maintenance and full functionality of the Testing Center's computer lab
- Run the Inspiroscan test scanning service for faculty
- Support the administration of fee-for-service tests such as the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- Communicate professionally with students, faculty, parents, colleagues, and leadership across the University
- Participate in Admissions and New Student activities (e.g., Open House, Orientations)
- Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Testing Center's goals and objectives
- Engage in appropriate professional development activities
- Provide excellent service and support to Rowan students, faculty, and staff, and to members of the public using Testing Center services.
- Understand the institution’s interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc.
- Occasional evening or weekend work is required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, or other related field. Minimum one year of relevant professional experience in an educational or business setting with experience with student or customer service and conducting multifaceted operations. A Master’s degree can be substituted for the one year of experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; independently apply policies and make decisions; meet deadlines; perform multiple tasks at one time; keep information confidential, and to learn and implement detailed procedures
- Skilled with Microsoft Office/Google suite programs and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff with excellent customer service, accuracy, and professionalism
Preferred qualifications:
- Education and/or experience regarding ADA and supporting students with disabilities
- Understanding and appreciation of issues regarding standardized testing, alternate credit opportunities (e.g. CLEP testing), and accessibility in education
- Experience working in a Testing Center in a post-secondary educational institution
- Knowledge of testing protocol and attributes such as reliability and validity
