The Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee daily activities. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success in managing multiple departments for maximum productivity.
The Director of Operations for The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (RLTAC), reports directly to the President of Roxbury Community College. The Director has overall responsibility for the facilities and management of the RLTAC in a manner that aligns with the original mission of the Center, as well as the philosophy and purposes of Roxbury Community College. This individual provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the general operations of the RLTAC, including all sports activities, programs, and administration.
The Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all athletic and event facilities, including setting up and tearing down for events, and managing facility issues such as maintenance, custodial services, landscaping, and property control. The role includes analyzing current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary. Hours for this position may vary based on the needs of the building and event scheduling, requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
The Director of Operations provides direct supervision of all RLTAC staff, including the RLTAC Event Manager, Operations Managers, Non-Unit Professionals, Event Staff contractors, maintainers, and other appropriate personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the RLTAC, ensuring the facility is well-maintained, safe and operating efficiently.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous monitoring of operational policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, and diligently monitor strategic plans in alignment with the organization's mission and vision.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
- Exercise oversight over the Event and Facility Operations, ensuring smooth execution of programming, rentals, and athletic events
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key operational metric to improve workflows and optimize the use of resources.
- Manage the RLTAC operating budget, purchasing, negotiations and putting efficient workflows in place to maximize a company's productivity and performance.
- Collaborate with department heads, vendors, and external partners to support operational and strategic goals.
- Recruit, hire, and train department managers and staff to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.
- Conduct performance evaluations in a timely and constructive manner, setting clear goals and expectations.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and accountability among RLTAC staff.
- Communicate new directives, policies, and procedures effectively, ensuring staff understanding and buy-in.
- Implement strategies to grow RLTAC membership and enhance user engagement.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis and user feedback, making data-driven improvements.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as directed by the President.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field (master's preferred).
- Proven experience in operations management, preferably in athletics, fitness, or community-based organizations.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience managing union and non-union personnel.
- Budget management and financial oversight experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic vision for long-term growth.
- The ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.
- Adhere to the company's policies and standards and ensure that laws and regulations are being followed.
Additional Information:
Compensation: $100,000-115,000.00
