The Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center is seeking an experienced Executive Director of Operations to oversee the operations of The Reggie. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success in managing multiple departments for maximum productivity.


The Executive Director of Operations for The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (RLTAC), reports directly to the President of Roxbury Community College. The Executive Director has overall responsibility for the facilities and management of the RLTAC in a manner that aligns with the original mission of the Center, as well as the philosophy and purposes of Roxbury Community College. This individual provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the general operations of the RLTAC, including all sports activities, programs, and administration.


The Executive Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all athletic and event facilities, including setting up and tearing down for events, and managing facility issues such as maintenance, custodial services, landscaping, and property control. The role includes analyzing current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary. Hours for this position may vary based on the needs of the building and event scheduling, requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends.


The Executive Director of Operations provides direct supervision of all RLTAC staff, including the Director of Programs and Community, RLTAC Event Manager, Operations Managers, Non-Unit Professionals, Event Staff contractors, maintainers, and other appropriate personnel.


Key Responsibilities:


Planning


  • Oversee the daily operations of the RLTAC, ensuring the facility is well-maintained, safe and operating efficiently.
  • Implement strategies to grow RLTAC membership and enhance user engagement. Set goals and create plans and programs for the entire Center, Athletic Department, including all capital improvements, and long-range planning.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key operational metric to improve workflows and optimize the use of resources. Evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis and user feedback, making data-driven improvements.
  • Hiring, supervision, and training managers and staff to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.
  • Conduct weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly meetings with staff. Responsible for staff evaluations and salary recommendations.
  • Provides communications, motivation, and leadership to the Reggie. Ensure compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) conference and institutional rules and regulations. Maintain an educational environment for all student athletes.

Budget and Inventory


  • Develops and administers budget based on documented needs and ensures that operations are cost effective, and funds are managed wisely.
  • Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommends disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary.
  • Oversee department budget that is fiscally responsible and in line with the mission and department goals.
  • Manage the RLTAC purchasing, negotiate and putting efficient workflows in place to maximize productivity and performance.

Events


  • Exercise oversight over the Event and Facility Operations, ensuring smooth execution of programming, rentals, and athletic events.
  • Collaborate with department heads, vendors, and external partners to support operational and strategic goals.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and accountability among RLTAC staff.
  • Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing of all districts athletic equipment including maintaining a current inventory of supplies, equipment, and fixed assets and recommending disposal and replacement of equipment.
  • Coordinates the use of all athletic facilities by non-school groups.

Policy and Reports

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous monitoring of operational policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate new directives, policies, and procedures effectively, ensuring staff understanding and buy-in.
  • Implements the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in area of athletics.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required.

Other Duties as assigned


  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as directed by the President.
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in business administration, Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in athletics, fitness, or community-based organizations.
  • 5 years of significant supervision experience.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience managing union and non-union personnel.
  • Budget management and financial oversight experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic vision for long-term growth.
  • The ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.
  • Adhere to the company's policies and standards and ensure that laws and regulations are being followed.

Additional Information:


Compensation: $155,000-$175,000
