What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Royal Business Bank?
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, responsible for accounts payable and general accounting routines while adhering to bank policy/procedure and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. Complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position, including Bank Secrecy Act.
DUTIES
- Review invoices or check requests from AP e-mail inbox or incoming mail and respond to e-mail requests
- Set invoices up for payment procedure, prepare GL coding, and send invoices for approval through accounts payable system workflow in a timely manner
- Print checks or initiate electronic payments for approved invoices and upload transaction export file to Prologue and Premier for processed payments
- Process void and stop payments as needed
- Monitor AP processing to ensure payments are up to date
- Respond to inquiries and resolve bill discrepancies
- Maintain and file vendor invoices
- Resolve pending issues on AP expense check reconciliation worksheet
- Prepare and issue 1099-MISC/NEC form at year end, file 1096 Form with IRS
- Perform journal entry callback for the finance department.
- Work with all outside auditors, regulators, and consultants as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in business or finance preferably with accounting courses.
EXPERIENCE: Two to three years of bank or related accounting experience preferred, not required. Knowledge of banking regulations, bank products and policies preferred but not required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excel, word, and PC literate.
- ITI/Fiserv, Prologue, and Avidxchange experience a plus.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is a plus.
