What You’ll Do: The Advanced Analytics Intern will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of machine learning models and AI-driven solutions to enhance business processes within the credit union. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with experienced Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Engineers, and cross-functional teams, gaining hands-on experience in data preprocessing, model development, and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in AI/ML concepts, programming skills, and a passion for data analysis. By contributing to real-world projects, the intern will gain valuable insights into the financial services industry while developing technical expertise in AI/ML applications.
Our Commitment To You:
Compensation: $19.56 - 21.91 (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)
Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Assist in collecting and preprocessing large sets of structured and unstructured data from various sources within the organization.
Develop, test, and refine machine learning models for various use cases, such as fraud detection, customer segmentation, and predictive analytics.
Research and implement cutting-edge AI/ML algorithms tailored to the financial services sector.
Collaborate with Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Engineers, and business analysts to integrate AI/ML models into existing systems and workflows.
Document processes, methodologies, and results of AI/ML projects, and create presentations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
What’s Needed For This Position:
Currently enrolled or anticipating to graduate May 2025 from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, River Falls, or Stout, throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks, such as TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar.
Strong understanding of data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, Qlik, Looker).
Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and working with large datasets.
Familiarity with SQL and database management systems.
Understanding of key AI/ML concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, neural networks, and natural language processing.
Knowledge of model evaluation techniques such as cross-validation, confusion matrices, precision/recall, and ROC curves.
Strong analytical thinking and ability to approach complex problems methodically.
What We’d Love To See:
Coursework in the field of Machine Learning.
Experience working/volunteering/participating on a team or club while balancing schoolwork.
Work Schedule:
Working approximately 20 hours per week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
Must be able to work onsite at Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI during the summer
This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from May 19, 2025 – August 31, 2025. Must be able to commit to the 3-month internship.
Training:
Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
