What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Tech position at Royal Ridge Fruits?
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician performs routine checks on the in-process and finished dryer product and related precursor products (infusion samples, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect Micro samples and request correct testing for customer: Dryer and Harvest
- Organize and composite Harvest samples for pathogen send out testing and/or customer required testing.
- Organize and composite Dryer campaign samples for pathogen and/or customer required testing.
- Inventory lab supplies and notify QC Manager of needs so we do not run out
- Performs and accurately documents quality and process control observations and tests as specified for each item produced using GMP principles.
- Performs periodic calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Enter sample info, spreadsheets/database.
- Obtains samples required for visual and analytical evaluation or microbiological testing as per specified requirements.
- Performs and documents Pre-Op Line Inspections as needed.
- Verifies and documents all product codes e.g., Pan Spec 0.1% oil, Reg. Moisture, etc., at each start-up of a Dryer Lot, product change over, at specified intervals during production runs, and at end of shift.
- Places all out of grade product or contaminated product on hold according to Standard Operating Procedure and verify quantities.
- Reports any food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Reports all out of grade product to appropriate supervisory or managerial parties
- Conducts GMP compliance audits and notifies Production Supervisors as well as QA Management of deficiencies.
- Ensures all paperwork is complete at end of shift.
- Ensures data entered in famous is correct and reflective of the product produced on shift.
- Assists in peer training when applicable.
- Assists with filing or proper storage of QA raw data.
- Performs general lab housekeeping duties.
- Be able to function organoleptic testing as well as analytical testing and notify Production and QA Managers if testing is not aligned.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Experience in Manufacturing
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Spanish bilingual preferred.
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
Physical Abilities:
- Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to:
- stand for prolonged periods of time
- walk and climb stairs
- utilize verbal and written communication to exchange information;
- clearly see 20 feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors;
- occasionally stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry short distances
