Position Summary: The Director of Operations role will be based in Sioux Falls and will be responsible for the effective operation of our 2 retail locations, manufacturing, and the cultivation facility. This position reports to the CEO of the Company. The Director of Operations will communicate with all levels of the organization to implement and maintain protocols, policies, and procedures in accordance with company standards. The position oversees diverse business operations, including leading senior level managers; staff scheduling and supervision; procurement and production planning, and ensuring a safe, secure, and productive work environment. This position will interface with customers and key business partners at other facilities. This role provides operational advice and recommendations to the CEO and General Manager to implement operational efficiencies and maximize profitability while meeting the strategic objectives of the company. They will manage and report on all key operational processes, and key performance indicators.

Job Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates leadership and compassionate management.
  • Supports dispensary, manufacturing, and cultivation leadership to achieve goals.
  • Communicates executive directives to dispensary management and staff.
  • Evaluates and reviews team leader performance and team member performance.
  • Develop leadership capabilities within the team for sustained organizational growth.
  • Establishes and oversees robust training programs for managers and staff.
  • Oversee and manage the company’s profit and loss, ensuring financial performance aligns with business goals.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Implement strategies to optimize operational costs and improve profit margins.
  • Works with the executive team to plan and execute strategies for business expansion and diversification.
  • Monitors market trends to identify opportunities for new product lines or business ventures.
  • Collaborates with R&D and manufacturing teams to design, develop, and launch new products that meet market demands.
  • Ensures that all products meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Integrates customer feedback into product development to ensure market relevance.
  • Partners with inventory management to ensure the appropriate selection of salable products are always available.
  • Streamlines the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) for all areas of operations.
  • Enforces company policies, procedures, and state regulations.
  • Works with compliance staff to maintain state compliance obligations, including Metrc.
  • Stays well-informed of all cannabis industry-specific legislation, actions, and enforcement.
  • Identifies operational risks and implements measures to mitigate them.
  • Build trust with members, patients, and vendors.
  • Establish systems to monitor and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Engages to resolve escalated patient interactions and ensure patient concerns are solved efficiently, respectfully, and promptly.
  • Represents the company at community functions and meetings while maintaining professionalism and respect.
  • Build and sustain relationships with community organizations and local stakeholders
  • Develops safety and security protocols with the leadership team.
  • Creates risk assessments against assets from injury, damage, or theft through prevention and rapid response.
  • Supports and maintains a functional network within the surrounding community with various entities (e.g., Local Emergency Departments, District Liaisons, Neighborhood Associations, etc.) to maintain our status as a well-intentioned and involved organization.
  • Ensure all equipment is functional and maintained. Uses discretion with sensitive and confidential security and business information.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Travel is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older according to South Dakota state law
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Prior retail, hospitality, or restaurant/bar management experience (2 years)
  • Prior management experience leading large teams (1 year)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or equivalent in professional and life experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the medical cannabis industry highly desirable
  • Experience working in the health & wellness industry highly desirable
  • Proven ability to manage teams effectively and ensure excellence in training and performance
  • Proficiency in G Suite (Google Drive, Google Sheets)
  • Proficiency in Metrc (Cannabis Track and Trace Software) highly desirable
  • Experience in social media marketing
