Description:
Seeking a skilled Digital Social Media Analytics professional to support the Department of the Army’s Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA) and Department of Defense Public Affairs. The ideal candidate will excel at developing, monitoring, and analyzing social media strategies to reach diverse audiences while providing actionable insights to inform the Army’s public affairs initiatives.
This role integrates social listening tools, conducts data-driven analysis, and generates comprehensive reports to enhance Army communication strategies and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities:Social Listening and Crisis Response:
- Monitor trending conversations about the Army brand using advanced social listening tools.
- Track and analyze digital media discussions to support crisis communication efforts.
Metrics and Performance Analysis:
- Develop and assess metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of Army communication strategies.
- Analyze data from mainstream and Army-owned social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) to refine content strategies.
- Collect and report on social media performance metrics, including engagement rates, tone, and demographic/geographic reach.
Influencer and Channel Recommendations:
- Identify and recommend social media influencers that align with Army objectives for specific topics and regions.
- Provide insights on Army engagement with key audiences, including service members, veterans, elected officials, and defense organizations.
Media Reporting:
- Generate ad-hoc, daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing Army-related traditional and social media coverage.
- Produce daily media digests (Monday–Friday) by 0530 EST, cross-referencing updates from DoD’s Morning News of Note, covering key news between 2200 the previous day and 0400 on the report day.
- Provide concise written snapshots of key takeaways for leadership within each report.
On-Call and Weekend Reporting:
- Be available during early morning hours (0530–0700) to address OCPA feedback and revisions.
- Deliver two daily reports over weekends (0700 and 1900) covering 12-hour intervals for the OCPA duty officer.
Breaking News Monitoring:
- Monitor breaking news on major news websites and social media platforms daily (0700–2200).
- Notify Media Relations Division (MRD) leadership of relevant updates and maintain a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) list to track key topics.
Social Media Solutions and Liaison Services:
- Provide support for the Army’s social media tools, acting as a liaison for related services.
Additional Duties:
- Execute other tasks as assigned to support OCPA’s mission and enhance public engagement.
Requirements:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience:
- 5 years of strategic or tactical media communication experience within the last 10 years.
- Proficiency in social media monitoring tools, data analysis, and Boolean search methods.
Skills:
- Expertise in tools like Talkwalker, Meltwater, Sprout Social, Spredfast, Falcon IO, and Google Analytics.
- Strong ability to create detailed reports and provide actionable insights.
- Effective communication skills for high-pressure environments.
- Familiarity with military public affairs or other high-stakes communication settings preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
