What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Engineer position at RS&H?
The Opportunity
RS&H is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in our Timonium, MD office!
Essential Functions:
- Provides general support to the Traffic Engineering Team by conducting various studies and developing solutions for addressing safety, traffic congestion and multimodal transportation needs.
- Performs basic traffic engineering tasks, including safety/crash analysis, traffic operations analysis and capacity analysis.
- Prepares documentation and technical reports for traffic engineering studies.
- Performs as-needed field reviews and observation for evaluating field conditions and assessing typical traffic operations and safety conditions.• Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and practices that are pertinent to respective discipline.• Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess basic knowledge of production software
- Must possess solid oral and written communications skills
- Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others
Preferred Qualifications:
Maryland Professional Engineering (PE) registration or the ability to obtain their PE within 6 months of hire
PTOE preferred but not required
Experience with traffic analysis software, such as HCS and Synchro
Experience with GIS
Experience with traffic simulation models such as CORSIM and VISSIM is a plus
Prior experience with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is preferred
Hiring Salary Range: ($91,770 - $146,855) — for this location only. The final agreed upon compensation is commensurate with experience relative to the position and/or primary work location.
