What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Business Systems Analyst position at RSM Solutions, Inc?
Thank you for taking time to stop by and take a look at the IT BA role I posted here on LinkedIn, I appreciate it. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tom Welke. I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions, Inc and have been recruiting technical talent for over 23 years and been in the tech space since the 1990s. Due to this, I don't use AI tools or 'bots' to create my Job Descriptions. I actually write them from scratch, as opposed to just using 'well...this is what HR said'. I also like to add some humor to these things...so, if something gives you a chuckle, that was the intent.
As with every role I work on, soft skills are almost as important as the soft skills. As one of my favorite Authors, Tom Peters' said 'soft is hard...hard is soft'. So, one might ask....'So, Tom, what are some of those soft skills that are important for this one?' Well...I'm glad you asked. Here are a few:
- We have all been in environments where people...essentially...BS their way through projects. Hoping that no one notices that everyone else is doing the work because this person just know's who to talk to. These environments - frankly - stink, don't they? Well, this is an environment where those crafty communicators (there is a less politically correct term for it) simply do not fly. This is an environment based on meritocracy...
- This is a role that bridges that gap between the business side of the house with the tech side of the house. So, that ability to 'know your audience' is critical to success here.
This role is being done onsite in Howard Lake, Minnesota. Yep, there is potential for 1 day of the week being done remotely. However, we will need someone who is within daily driving distance to Howard Lake for this role to be a fit.
I have worked with this client for a long time. From a Systems standpoint, they run a mix of Oracle OTM, JDEdwards, RPG and a whole host of other systems. So, I am seeking someone with a nice broad 'breadth' of experience in reference to how Supply Chain, ERP, and CRM's actually behave and integrate with one another. If you have worked in an environment with several home grown systems, that would almost work out better for this role.
You will, as you might expect, work on enhancements to existing systems, work on improvements (and new systems as well), report common issues & evaluate performance.
This role will be responsible for leading solution delivery as it relates to Manufacturing technology and Production Controls. Rather than saying that ever common 'must have strong communication skills'...let me clarify that piece of the puzzle a bit. In this role, you will spend time working with C, VP and Director level execs, shop floor folks and IT staff in 'their language' as opposed to being overly technical or obtuse.
The successful candidate will collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple functional areas and levels to understand business needs. Duties include acting as a business partner with the manufacturing teams and Digital Technology support resources, as well as working with vendor partners, and ensuring solutions are meeting stakeholder needs while in compliance with corporate Digital Technology guidelines and requirements.
Here is what we are looking for:
- At least 3-5 years of IT BA experience. This experience should include process focused BA work. This role is not a role for a contractor that has spent 1 year in one engagement, a year at another and so on. This kind of experience can only be gained from having some duration in the roles you have held.
- At least a couple years of experience working in a Manufacturing environment (in other words...understanding that a BOM isn't something that blows up).
- Experience engaging business owners of all levels, end users, and engineers alike, and translate each groups’ language for the appropriate audience.
- Experience with those tools like LucidChart, Visio, etc...
- Experience with Sql queries, functions & stored procedures.
- Experience with DevOps would be great to see.
- This is a role without a ton of oversight...so, if you have been the only BA working on the roles you have held, that would be great to see.
- Experience, as a BA (not a user, but as a BA) with ERP's, CRM'S and Supply Chain Management / WMS systems. If you don't have all of these, but have focused on ERP's for example, that should be fine.
- It would be great to see some Agile / Scrum experience and a ScrumMaster Cert (if you don't have it, the Zombie apocalypse wont happen).
Salary : $90,000 - $98,000
