IT Procurement Analyst

I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions Inc and I have been recruiting technical talent for a long long time... The reason I mention this is that I actually write real job descriptions...no bots, no AI.

As with just about every role I work on, social fit is just about as important as the technical fit. You may ask...so, Tom, what are some of those social fit characteristics you speak of? Well, I am glad you asked...here are some:

• Have you ever been in a procurement function and you were always the person to blame? Either that, or it's always the vendors fault? It kinda stinks, doesn't it? Well, here things are a little different...if things go wrong, people share the blame as opposed to throw the blame at someone else.
• That previous bullet leads to something...this environment thrives on radical transparency. Often times, things go off the rails because someone along the line didn't say something they should have. So, be honest, be transparent...those two things are important to this role.

This role is being done onsite in any of the following locations:

• Cedar Rapids, Iowa (this is the preferred location)
• DesMoines, Iowa
• Rosemount, Illinois
• Baton Rouge, Louisiana

For this role, you will be working on a mix of using the strategic part of your brain with the tactical part of your brain. Allow me to explain. You will be working on procurement from a strategic standpoint while also establishing processes and procedures. A good chunk of these policies and procedures will come from your experience in the past. That detailed experience with scorecards, vendor relations, and contract negotiations will be needed for success in this role.

You will serve as the primary contact with vendors while championing internal & external relationships. In addition, you will drive sourcing, RFIs and RFPs. This will include due diligence and evaluation as well as driving overall performance oversight of vendors as well.

Here is what I am looking for:

• At least 6 years of direct experience in an IT procurement role. This will include vendor management, and development of strategy through execution.
• Experience overseeing development, design and implementation of software, hardware, systems & products from a procurement capacity.
• Vendor lifecycle management experience. This should include third party risk management systems experience.
