Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will work closely with medical staff, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients. This role is crucial in outpatient clinics, hospitals, and specialized care environments, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide support to patients in outpatient settings, clinics, or hospitals including medical-surgical units and emergency medicine departments.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Help patients with mobility and transfers to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Engage with patients in a friendly manner, providing emotional support and companionship.
- Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to geriatrics and other specialized areas such as PICU or hospital medicine.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team in fast-paced environments like Level II Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and understanding of outpatient care processes.
- Experience or familiarity with geriatrics is preferred but not required.
- Flexibility to adapt to various healthcare settings including OR (Operating Room) environments as needed.
- Compassionate approach towards patient care, demonstrating empathy and patience at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.50 - $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 36 per week
