FACILITIES MANAGER As the Facilities Manager you will deliver measurable results and meaningful impact in providing the District’s staff, pupils and community members with clean and safe physical plants, grounds and transportation services. Successful experience managing people and/or subcontractors/vendors in a service organization, preferably in public school related operations. Management experience in activities of maintenance, custodial services, general construction, as well as a managerial knowledge of school transportation, grounds and sports fields. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. Ability to understand and communicate well with the staff, administration and the general public. Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time. Ability to remain pleasant and calm while working under pressure. Ability to be a good organizer and a self-starter with excellent follow-up skills. College degree or equivalent educational experiences. REPORTS TO: Director of Operations SUPERVISES: Grounds, Maintenance, and Custodial Staff RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilities Supervisor is responsible for setting the goals for the varied departments, assessing those goals and evaluating the performance of the lead personnel. Leadership Attends all regular Board meetings and sub committees relevant to the position. Oversees, with the appropriate supervisor, the improvement and renovation work performed by staff or outside vendors. Assists in recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of personnel. Evaluates staff supervised. Promotes continuing programs for staff development. Establish requirements and schedules for plowing operations. Works with the groundskeeper, athletic director and principles to ensure that playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities are prepared. Operational Excellence Is responsible for the overall planning and performance of maintenance and grounds repair requirements of the district. Is responsible for the overall planning and performance of cleaning requirements of the district. Ensures that standards consistent with all applicable laws are maintained. Is responsible for developing budgets for the operations of the various areas under his/her direction. Develops short and long term capital projects for the district’s approval. Develops specifications for contracted work and competitive bidding. Coordinates purchases for the departments under his/her direction Inspects all school buildings and grounds to ensure goals and expectations are being achieved. Is responsible for preventive maintenance programs. Keeps informed of the latest trends, developments and products that relate to the areas under his/her responsibilities. Ensure that all district vehicles are in operating condition. Sees that the use of school facilities comply with the policies established by the School Board. Participates in the design/development process of new facilities. Develops a 10 year maintenance and facilities plan, and reviews and updates on an annual basis. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned. Terms of Employment: As per contract, total compensation to be established by the Superintendent commensurate with experience and approved by the Board. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent, in accordance with the Board of School Directors Policy on evaluation of Administrative Personnel (GCOC).
