Job Description: Bilingual Digital Navigator (Spanish and English)
Position: Digital Navigator
Job Type: Full-time or Part-Time (Weekdays with occasional evenings/weekends)
Location: Various locations and partner organizations within a 4-mile radius of Kennett Square
Reports to: Digital Literacy Program Manager
Salary: $20 per hour
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Bilingual Digital Navigator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a trusted guide who assists community members with ongoing, individualized support for accessing affordable and appropriate connectivity, affordable internet-capable devices, and coaching in introductory digital skills. This role requires floating between multiple service locations to serve clients both individually and through training classes and workshops. The digital navigator’s work is part of RSVP’s efforts to empower clients to participate fully in accessing education, workforce development and healthcare resources throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with local partner organizations to determine an agreed upon schedule, spaces available and other requirements or needs.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals of all ages and backgrounds feel comfortable seeking assistance and learning about digital technologies.
- Conduct client intake to determine home internet access or need for home internet access, their access to and use of devices and technology skills and experience.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to clients to identify digital needs and goals and create an individualized action plan. Confirm the details with the client.
- Coach clients to use their home internet services to meet their internet use priorities and goals. This may include in-person, phone, and online interactions, as well as referrals to sources of additional digital skill training.
- Facilitate digital literacy programs, classes, and workshops tailored to community members in both English and Spanish to enhance digital skills and literacy within the community.
- Track each client’s progress and types of requests. Maintain accurate and timely records and report outcomes as required.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations to expand outreach and impact to identify clients in need of technology training.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress and provide reported outcomes as required.
- Stay updated on the latest digital tools and resources to provide the best support.
- Provide occasional presentations about the digital navigator program to potential partners, clients, and program stakeholders.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of digital navigation services and tech training classes through feedback and data analysis.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge in the digital navigation field.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Associates degree from an accredited college, community college or university or any related field OR a high school diploma and 2 years of experience in the field of education/training.
- Bilingual English-Spanish (required)
- Technologically Savvy, Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams.
- Flexibility to float between multiple locations within the designated area.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Familiarity with the local community and its digital needs.
- Strong proficiency in using computers, the internet, software applications, and online resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective guidance and support individuals of diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels.
- Patience and empathy in assisting individuals who may have limited digital literacy or face other barriers to technology access.
- Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly, staying updated on the latest trends and tools.
- Previous experience in teaching or providing training in a technology-related field is preferred.
- Passion for promoting digital literacy, inclusion, and improving access to technology and information for individuals and communities
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
