Staff or Senior Staff Attorney - Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney (Contract)
Location : Fully Remote (California-based candidates preferred)
Contract Length : 6 months (with potential for extension or permanent hire)
Pay Rate : $80-90 / hour
A trusted law firm in Brea, CA, is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their legal team on a contract basis. The role offers the opportunity to handle a caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases, including occasional appearances before California Workers' Compensation Boards in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Oxnard.
For Senior Staff Attorney candidates with 5 years of experience, we may consider candidates outside the immediate Los Angeles area to focus on back-office work or phone appearances.
Responsibilities :
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct in-depth legal research, and develop effective defense strategies.
- Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery responses, trial briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
- Handle court appearances, depositions, and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
- Prepare witnesses and present evidence at hearings and trials.
- Research, draft, and argue appellate briefs when required.
